As Promised.... Pics of more projects

Uploading pictures from projects inspired by other bloggers. When I saw this "Holiday Planner" over on Pine Feather's blog (she shares a great tutorial). It looked so easy peasy... my kind of thing....I just h2h one myself. I used a mix of products. The paper is (retired) SU designer series paper from last year. I used a generic white envelope folded in half to make the entire planner. Pretty and FUN to make. I might even make more for gifts. They'll have to go out early in that case.

I switched the paper pad from the left side to the right. This way the weight is carried on the correct side. It seemed top heavy when the paper was on the left side. I also cut a slit and slipped the cardboard backing of the paper pad into it to anchor it better vs. just gluing in down. I also added the A Muse calendar month "December" to have a date book too. The strip on the bottom edge of the calendar is a pocket for tags and coupons and such. Oops I need to punch a half circle on the lip of the pocket so it's easier to open. See Pine Feather

The right side (flap) is the opening of the envelope for housing receipts and such as we shop for the holidays.

Wow I just thought about how quickly this year has flown by? It seems like just yesterday we were picking our "One Little Word" for the year ahead as found on Allie Edwards blog, "Capture, Create" scrapbooker extraordinaire. It goes something like this....

one little word

A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything. It can be sharp and biting or rich and soft and slow.

Mine switched around A LOT from the word "Focus" (see this post) to "Simplify" and back again, and again, and again. I ended up reverting back to the word "Simplify" because obviously "Focus" wasn't working for me. I guess mine was of the rich and soft and slow genre' because I have had the word "Simplify" as my intention every year, for the past seven years now. It was rolled over each year because I felt like hadn't quite gotten "it" yet and felt I must obtained at least some semblance of "it" before moving on. The word "Simplify" equals clarity to me and if I wasn't clear that I could move on then I didn't want to. I dunno for whatever reason in my scheme of logical or illogical things I couldn't or wouldn't choose another word yet.... but this year.........YES I am happy to report I am "there". I am ready to move on. I've gotten things to a point where they are "Simplified" to my liking and to my tastes. It feels so good to say and "mean" it. I think it took on a life of it's own and it truly did ripple out on the pond and change so many things this year. They say...what you "Focus" on you attract.... whoa that's deep...there's that word "Focus" again. Maybe I was "Focusing" and just didn't know it. Yay. Anyway, this post took on a life of its own too because the original intention of this post was to remark upon how much inspiration is out there and how much I am enjoying it. Here are some blogs of note: Anyway, I like these (scroll down to the holiday planner) and these. One is Pine Feather, Poppy Paperie and Posy (scroll to approx 10/11 pic) I need those little houses. I am working on some projects that include elements from each of these posts and will upload photo's when complete. I am super excited about being back in my "art therapy" studio again. WOW I really really needed that. The lesson in contrast says to me ...balance and I should really really try and find time everyday to have a little art therapy and not wait so long next time.

Mange No More

Well there's just nothing like a little art therapy to raise your mood and put one into the holiday spirit. I've been having so much fun dusting off all of my supplies, taking inventory of my stock (all things PR!SSy) and getting to play. How fun is that? Well as you might imagine I hoard LOTS of supplies. Last year I bought the cutest card kit that Martha Stewart had out last year similar to this one. Ok she doesn't need any blink (Blog ink, remember the acronym I made up last year?). Anyways, I finally used it. It was so simple but loverly. I have to admit sometimes I am glitter challenged. I can mess up glitter. Yep you heard it right. Last year I did one of these.... (I wish I had taken a pic of the deer with mange before I fixed it) and it didn't turn out. I didn't use enough glue or something and the glitter was all splotchy (see bird, this year) . I used craft bond spray adhesive highly recommend it. It gives a great "sticky" and very even. Well you can't tell by the first shot because I blotched him and tried to wipe it off. Not a good plan. These are so much better IRL. As you can imagine. They are card/ornament combos. Such high quality as all of MSs shtuff is. They came with these pretty scalloped cards and celophane-type envelopes. I love them. I really really want to keep them. But since this is the gift-giving holiday I guess I will have to part with them . I think I will give these to co-workers and friends. I think they will make very nice gifts. They do double duty as a card and a gift. That Martha she thinks of everything. ~Enjoy

A Moment of Silence Please....

OMG yes I did something CRAFTY. It feels so good to be back amongst my creature comforts inside my art studio. Paper, Ribbon, Ink.... yadayada need I say more except maybe yes... GLITTER. Ok for now I am going to post a measly little card of which I am pleased as punch about. But first a little background maybe? Last night was an organizational night. I am still putting things back from the overhaul of these past few months (new carpet etc). As I was organizing however, I put together some inspirational stations with the stamp sets I felt like using this year for the holidays, I assembled all of my Christmas papers and I just put stuff all in one area on my table for later use. So tonight when I got home from work I was able to just get right to it. I didn't even stress about a sketch or anything. I used the good old standby my Stampin Up Idea Book and Catalog. Easy Peasy. Not everyone is a designer and can think of cool layouts, color combos, etc. I'm just not that clever. So I used the sketch from p 22 from the "Window Dressing" Level 3 hostess set.

Except I did choose the colors, ribbons etc. Speaking of which I never thought I would ever use this Snowman ribbon that I found at Michaels last year. In fact after I bought it I thought I will never figure out a scheme where that ribbon will look good. So anyway, I used it on this project and it is just perfect. My apologies for the photo. Santa? I need a camera. Thanks.

HOW ADORABLE IS THIS?

I do have more for tomorrow because I worked with a lot of glitter tonight and also some Martha Stewart kits that I bought last year but never got around to playing with. Plus I had to have that crystal coarse white glitter that Martha had out this year at Michaels so with my trusty 50% off coupon I purchased a bottle and used it tonight. I knew I was going to love it. I will post that stuff tomorrow night. Stay tuned for my post tomorrow titled... MANGE NO MORE.... HAHAHA I can't wait to show Allison what I have been up to.

Hi everyone! I know I know... don't be mad... life's been so crazy fast and full. If it's not one thing it's another O U C H. First the garage, then the master, then the w2w carpet project, then the hubby loses his J O B thank you economy, and the co. car he had so we're down to one car, another O U C H but then the one and only car in the driveway needs work.... did I say O U C H yet? OH yes I did.... to the tune of $$$ alot I won't say how much but add this up... go ahead do the the math... no worries.... yepper I'm fine really.... 130,000 service check up, timing belt, serpentine belt, clutch and flywheel kit, water pump, thermostat, gas cap, rear view mirror (I pulled it out of the ceiling by accident on the way to a funeral, ok I was stressed and was trying to yank the rosary off the mirror H E L L O so I could use it to pray for the faithfully departed and HI thanks Mother Mary for your help). I still said my prayers but it was too late for the mirror it dangle by one electrical thread all the way. BACK TO MY STORY so needless to say S O R R Y no posting, crafting and fun. But the real reason for my post was to go ahead and give a shout out to a new PrissyPal. Yes I still had time to get a new cult member. ROFL. But if you go over and check out her new blog SassyCraftyLady (isn't that a fun name?) you will see.... yepper.... she's definitely been bit by the bug... Well it wasn't 100% true that I haven't been having any fun because I did have "Open Stamp Camp" at my place on Friday where everyone just brought their own projects to work on. I was way too tarred to take pics and I get sort of adadadhd when I'm around lots of peeps. Tina did the cupcake boxes for her first ever project and she had to do a mass production. We had a lot of fun but the night went way too fast.

We have also made a couple (or more) trips to Paper Tales because well do I really need to say WHY? If you live anywhere near the area you should really really get over to see Michelle's new store. Click on any of these links to see some of her "stock" She carries all of the latest and greatest and she is the PREMIER A Muse supplier in the area. IMHO. I never have to go anywhere else to find what I need when it comes to all things PRISSY. OMG Michelle (and Helle and Diane and Julie) are just so fun and helpful and I am sure she won't mind me snagging the graphic of the card we did for the "make and takes". Michelle just got back from SEATTLE from the A Muse launch of their new store. Hi Linda. (I met Linda at one of Paper Tales classes) and wanted to share her inspiration so she provided make and takes all week. Well we of course had to beat a path to her door to do them. How Stella Got Her Groove Back

um.... not so much. But hey it's at least an attempt... Yes, pandora's box was opened it started when I was able to get new master bedroom furniture which lead to the inspiration to have a 16 foot dumpster commenced at the 'ole ranch. One thing leads to another. It also seems this space-clearing business can really put a crimp on your creativity. But never fear... I should be back to crafting regularily soon. Not only that the space once cleared leads to another project and another. Before ya' know it creativity has been replaced with swiffer dusters, trips to the charity store, and NEW WALL TO WALL FLOORS. I tried that experiment (Ali) to choose and live by a single word at the start of the year. Well, that exercise wasn't new to me. I had chosen "Simplify" every year for at least the last five years. This year I decided to try a new word and at first I chose "Focus" for my new word. But I couldn't stay focused to save my life so I went back to my trusty long standing word of the year "Simplify". I kept rolling it over each year because I hadn't "mastered" simplicity yet so I wanted another year to give it another try. I wasn't going to move on until I was truly practicing it. To me it meant space clearing and getting rid of excess schtuff and getting organized. My goal was to get a handle on my surroundings to a point where my belongings had a place for everything and everything was in it's place. And if something didn't have a home it had to go. Well, year after year, I still had in my opinion, too much schtuff. I think we've had a breakthrough and finally maybe this January I can choose a NEW word of the year with a clear consciousness. Not only did we clear things out with the help of the dumpster but since we had to move the entire house out to the patio, side porch and garage to have the floors done it was another perfect opportunity to do Round 2 of space clearing. I think I am getting there. When we put stuff back after the floors were finished I didn't bring it all back in and I really went through things and thinned things out again. So we had a fresh start and it feels like spring cleaning not fall. I didn't even get to make one Halloween card. Hopefully I will get to make some T'day cards. I did however experiment with glitter tonight. This card is pitiful but I decided to post it anyway.

This is the full card using the Lockhart Angel stamp, A Muse Trees and SU snow. I wanted it to look like the Angel was sprinkling snow onto the trees. The concept was cute but the execution needs work. My skills have really fallen apart. When ya don't use it you lose it for sure:

I had to crop the angel image because my shading was so bad (egads) I wanted to at least zoom in on the glitter. You can't screw up glitter right??? Well from the looks of things... yes you can.

Happy Fall Y'all

Let me introduce Posy Gets Cozy's Sour Cream Apple Pie. I felt like doing some fall baking this weekend and I was able to do just that. My feeble kick-off to Fall in the Mz Prissy household. There's just nothing like the smell of fresh baked goods to bring cheer to a home. So yesterday I put together Shepherd's Pie and this morning I followed Posy's lead and bake the Sour Cream Apple Pie she shared on her blog. Mine looks pretty much the same as my other Apple Pie because I kept the topping from mine which is essentially a "Dutch Apple Pie" crisp topping. Everyone knows the best part of any pie is the topping. I know it's my favorite part. So I followed the recipe Posy gave and then kept the topping I have used for years from my recipe.

I'll update with real pictures later on when they become available. Right now everthing is charging.

Sour Cream Apple Pie

Topping (Pozy)

3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
1/4 c. plus 2 tablespoons sugar
1 t. cinnamon
2 tablespoons flour

End All Be All Pie Topping (Mz. Prissy)

1/2 c. flour
2/3-3/4 c brown sugar
1/2 c. oats
3/4 teaspoon ea. ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg
1/3 c. butter or margerine

I double the topping amounts because I LOVE the topping and plus the pie pan is larger than most pie tins so I adjust the recipe accordingly to fit. I use the Pampered Chef Clay Baker.

Filling

1 1/3 c. sour cream
2/3 c. sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 large eggs
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

(I prefer pearl tapioca to flour but I didn't have any in the pantry so I used the flour)

4 or 5 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced

Pie crust (you can make your own, or use a pre-made one from the refrigerator section of the grocery store — I always do) fitted into a deep-dish 9" or 10" pie plate and chilled

To make the topping, in a bowl blend the butter, sugar, cinnamon, and flour until the mixture is combined well. Cover and chill the topping.

To make the filling, whisk together the sour cream, sugar, salt, vanilla, eggs, and flour until the mixture is smooth. Add the peeled, cored, and thinly sliced apples and stir the filling and apples together.

Spoon the filling into the chilled shell and crumble the topping evenly over it. Bake the pie on a baking sheet in the middle of a pre-heated 350-degree oven, 1 to 1 1/4 hours. (You might need to put a bit of tinfoil on top of the pie during the last 15 minutes to prevent the top from burning.) Transfer it to a rack and let it cool.

Mine are in the oven right now as we speak I can't wait to try it later on this afternoon. I also am making the "Mister" Cookies the Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip cookies that were shared by Sweet and Sassy. Remember these? Yummo. I can't wait until they are all finished but they will be sure to help me with some Fall Spirit, make my house smell wonderful and put some smiles on the natives faces as well.

Holy Freakin Blue Angels Batman

Lookie what I saw while on my walk this afternoon. One of the perks of living in the city of "Top Guns" Miramar Top Gun Marine Airbase. Woohoo. Not lying. Nope I'm not. The Blue Angels. Ok well it's no secret my love affair with the "Top Gun" pilots. Ok well, so maybe it is a secret. But now ya' know. We see this high flying jets daily living in San Diego. In fact, while I my commute daily (to and from) work I see them just about each leg of my commute. So of course I pretend that I have a private escort courtesy of the US Military. hahahahaha. Everytime I see them I say to myself, "aw look the Marine's are escorting me to work again." I know I know I have a pathetic fantasy life. My co-workers asked me if I took my meds today. Assclowns.

A-P O S T

I will definitely have diarrhea of the mouth tonight. For one thing I feel the need to ramble all over the place. Firstly and this is not the reason of my post... I was finally able to install MicroSoft Service Pack (MS SP2) on my computer. When I had to wipe my hard drive clean including windows a while back if you remember correctly?... I had to reinstall everything from scratch. Well I have all of my original disc that came with my computer and it kept blocking me from installing updates because MS kept telling me that my version of windows was essentially pirated. NOT. I gave up and decided to do without MS SP2 updates. Bah humbug I thought. Well, little did I know that any other updates that I needed to install including those that are not MS related could not install without the SP2. GAWD what an MS MONOPOLY that is. Well, once again, tonight I was trying to complete a full install of another program I had (with discs and all) and it aborts because I don't have SP2. So back to MS updates and lucky me I was able to get through a complete SP2 installation without MS telling me I was a pirate. woohoo. So now back to the drawing board I finish my install of my other program. It completes. Now believe it or not one of the apps that I was unable to install because of no SP2 from MS was McAffe virus protection program of which I have an annual subscription to. Yep I have been without virus protect since my restage. Anyway, yes McAffe is now working as well. Thank GAWD again because I was paid up until the end of the year. What a waste that was. NOW TO THE POINT OF MY POST. I was blurfing again and stumbled upon Tracy's color throwdown and had to laugh because I WAS right in the middle of creating THIS card. See below.

Hang in There with ME

Have I fallen off the face of the earth? Well, YES. Wow I can't even believe myself!! I have been super super super busy it must be true. I really can't tell you why or how or why I have not been able to craft, create or blog. It's nothing in particular but everything in particular at the same time. I still have the same number hours in the day as I always have had. What is wrong with this picture? Oh well, just wanted to check in and let everyone know that yes I indeed have fallen off the face of the earth and I haven't found me yet. Its absolutely no consolation that I haven't even READ my blogs let alone actually blogged. I have 400++++ blog posts that have gone unread in my Google Reader. Yeah I can't explain it. Really. I'm tired a lot lately. I helped my daughter move twice. In and back. I ordered a dumpster hahahahahaha. Think hot mess Niecy Nash from Clean House (love her). Yes, I have a 16 foot dumpster in my drive way. A debris box and it's not even that I have all that much stuff but then I do. I have pictures even. I have a ton of pictures that I need to share and post but hence NOTHING. I think of you all often. I will post pretty things soon I promise. Inchie shares and cards. Project around the house, animals tons of stuff but no stuff. Do I sound a bit bipolar? maybe thats IT. Take care...farewell for now....see you soon...I'm OK really I am.

I've Been Meaning...

Wow I have so much to share and so little time to do it. I know I've been gone gone gone a lot lately. I don't know what gives seems I'm just busy, tired and busy and tired. I have some folksy primitive art I've been meaning to write about. I've been meaning to take some shots around the house of some of the cool vintage things I own and thought they might be of interest to someone?!?! I had the S C O R E of the century (well at least I think it is) at the Scrapbook Expo I went to this past weekend and would love to share my latest acquisition. winkwink. A little of this and a little of that. Just a mish and mash of things. Oh the biggest news is the Inchies have finally gone P O S T A L. The last of the 2 letters U, V (hi Beth) arrived and I immediately started bundling the packages of the full A-Z sets together. There are a couple of post scripts (funny things) regarding the Inchie swap. I will share all of this and more maybe later tonight or tomorrow. Just wanted to post a quickie right now to let you know I am still alive and kicking. I'd love to spend more time on my blog but just don't have it right now. I'll be back soon...

A Quick Inchie Update

Hi Tracy! I received your inchies today and they are so fabulous. Love them. I am still waiting on one final set but I expect these to go postal this weekend. I haven't posted in awhile and my crafty space is tore-up-from-the-floor-up. Sadly not, because I have been in it at all. I will post peeks soon and a ton of other fun stuff as time allows. I have been super uber busy with life in general, nothing earth shattering, just same ole same ole but whew that's enough. I have sooooo many fun things waiting in the wings to share and create. My New Boudoir

I couldn't wait to post pictures of my new bedroom furniture set. I was going to wait until I had the entire scene set, with new lamps in place, wall art etc... But I'm so excited about it so far I thought I would post what I have for now. The pictures are so bad and fuzzy and the lighting is bleh too sorry for that. IRL it's super pretty with the chocolate and white.

Side view. The lights are not this color IRL, the picture made it much oranger. It's pretty I think. I don't know what that white thing on the floor is. Probably a sock. I forgot to tuck the side sheet in too in my haste.

Side table no. 1 w/bedside carafe. The cleaning lady (believe me its rare and random when I can have a cleaning lady, usually when I am in a panic and behind on everything I break down and get one for a day) broke the hurricane so I replaced it with the wrong size. Hence the shade not fitting correctly. (see other lamp)

The bedroom furniture is the Farmhouse Collection from Potterybarn (see this post here). I know pinch yourself now. I was totally CASing the look and feel of said "Room No. 1" at "The Spring" (remember this post). I went there with my daughters for Mother's Day this year and a couple of times since. We loved the place so much we had to go back. My daughter is a regular there. It's a little spa totally off the beaten path and little known to the world (we hope it stays that way). They have approximately a total of 10ish+ rooms they all line this courtyard of the three mineral pools on premise (those are miraculous trust me on that one). Anyway, I think I've gotten it pretty close. I went with white sheets, a chocolate colored throw and accent pillows. My walls are still bare and the lamps are going to be swapped out. But until I find just the right lamps, these will have to do for now. I am going to sell these lamps either on etsy or ebay. I bought them for $150 for the pair and I will sacrifice these for $75 for the pair (firm) buyer pays shipping. They are vintage/country style, the shades are handmade and they have blue floral embellishment ribbon that pins on (I removed it to wash the shades), they are repro's not antique at all but they look it.

A-Z Alphabet Inchie Swap - UPDATES

A is for Apple

Edited to Add: I changed the number of participants to 13 and Inchies to two letters each.... a friend of mine pointed out that in order for each person to get a full set to exchange of the alphabet they would have to do 26 to swap. So I changed it up so that each participant would get two letters of the alphabet and only have to make 13 of each letter. That will alleviate boredom with one design. Inchies are small so doing 26 won't be that hard. I never was that good at math. winkwink

When complete we will all have a full A-Z set of 26 Inchies. This is similar to ATCs swaps you are all used to except we are doing 1x1 Inchies. How fun is THAT!! Here are the UPDATED AS OF JUN 20TH dete's -

1. Rule number 1 – HAVE FUN - =D

2. Make 2 sets of 13 same image Inchies with an image using a letter of the alphabet (you each have your letters now) - one will be from me. For example: if you are assigned an "A" you could used an image that begins with the letter "A", such as an Apple. You would make 13 Inchie Apples and then 13 of your second letter “B” for example you would make 13 inchies with an image of a ball. These are examples only use any image you choose

3. 13 of 2 same images total NOT 13 unique/different images

4. You will make a total of 26 inchies to swap

5. No Vendor Restrictions

6. Quality Work – chipboard or heavy cardboard for backing

7. Use of an embellishment (creative candy, glitter…your choice)

8. Use the letter on your Inchie (See example below)

9. Postmarked by August 2 –

10. Include SASE w/return envelope and postage

11. Store your finished product in a ziplock bag or some protective covering

Since I had Sooooooooo Many Posts about...

... not getting my catty I thought fo sho I had to post at least one announcing that I finally got my catty today. GUESS WHAT I left it at work and didn't really even get to take it all in. =C Crazy but I will remember it tomorrow. I can't wait to look it over it looks great so far.... woohoo yeahyeah
